Why Microsoft chose to stop selling Windows XP?

After releasing Windows Vista for some few months, Microsoft now decided to cut out selling it's older Operating System Windows XP, and this due to several reasons, Microsoft CEO Steve Balmer has been avoiding to mention, for if his company trusted in the success of this new OS, why would it cut off selling the other 6 years old and less advanced operating system?




The answer to this question, is that Windows XP have been crucially affecting Vista sales, Which obliged Microsoft to stop selling it and remove it from shops shelves, since most users were preferring it to new unstable Windows Vista, and this decision made by Microsoft, didn't work out as planned, but made some Windows users protest and create a petition to keep Windows XP sold in the market.

The petition some of them created, contained approximately 160,000 signs, and was under the name of "Save XP", which led the change of this decision immediately though diplomatically, for to cool things down and please some users, Steve Balmer said in an Interview, that the company really does listen to its customers and that is those customers want to extend the shelf life of its Windows XP operating system, then Microsoft will consider that extension.

But this response didn't end here for he also stated that he is sure that people who want to buy new PCs prefer the newest operating systems, but it seems he has the wrong statistics, for and as some analysts might agree on, some surveys are showing that most people look for stable platforms and not new ones.

Therefore we conclude that the reason why Microsoft stopped selling Windows XP, is since its stability is stopping users from buying unstable Windows Vista, for users are preferring it more than the new system.
